There is absolutely no "honor" when it comes to this new feature. None. It is nothing but a way to generate activity on this site and increase the drama. I'm absolutely disgusted at how it's being used to hurt, belittle and punish people. All in the name of what? Not honor.
I decided last night that I would no longer participate in this feature ever again. I refuse to a part of something so ugly and shameful. If people choose to give honor or take it from me, that's their choice and doesn't matter to me in the slightest... they will not receive any back, nor will I take it from anyone.
I have seen many of my friends lower themselves to levels that make me feel I should rethink my perception of them. I am heartbroken to see those I know to be caring and thoughtful individuals turn into vicious, nasty, petty, childish monsters. I am so sick to my stomach of what I've read as the comments on many of my friends' honor pages, that I almost want to wash my hands of this site entirely.
But... I'm not going to do that. I have too many good friends here that I enjoy interacting with to allow another stupid round of "let's gang up and destroy people, just because it's not against ToS". Well, it should be against ToS. It should definitely be against anyone's moral conscience. More importantly, you people should really take a good look in the mirror and decide whether you're a civilized adult or a vengeful child.
I will not be dumping any friends that are part of this nasty business. I realize everyone handles things differently... I respect their right to be who they are, and if I have them as a friend, then I accept them "as is". However, that does not mean I condone or agree with their beliefs or behavior.
I hope not to lose any of them over this journal entry, but if that does happen, it will be by their choice not mine. I'm willing to listen to their side of whatever story is being played out, but they best be prepared for my honest opinion of what they've done. And I can guarantee that nothing they give as an excuse or explanation will justify what I've seen on those honor pages.
I am just so heartbroken to see such ugliness from those I know to be so much better than that.

It certainly backfired a bit, but as you said ...it increased site activity but not in the name of honour.

It does generate more for the site, but all in all it is a waste to me as well. If people are 'mad' at you for whatever reason a negative honor does nothing but prove that they are being childish.
I do not engage in it anymore. It does nothing for me really other than to become a big annoyance

Cajome, I echo all of your sentiments completely. I logged on just minutes ago struggling with trying to decide what actions I should take if any. To say that the people involved are people that I trust and respect greatly gives all of them to much credit but some of them are people who I call friend or associate.
I know that even the people who have been hurt aren't completely innocent. Every one of them has hurt each other and themselves.
I have always abstained from judgement and I will continue to but I can say that what I have seen does affect my plans for my future on VR.
Thank You for writing this.
I am glad to know that I am not the only one who is deciding not to stand on one side of the line or the other.

I agree in part; many here are being especially vicious with the 'honor' system - especially when they make nasty comments and remain anon.
The system shows us who is liked/ respected here and who is not. Sure - some are given honor because they are getting their asses kissed, but in general, they are liked. The ones who are hated should reflect on why they are so hated...maybe they will adjust their behavior in a positive way. Maybe...

I do appreciate all of your comments, thank you so much for taking the time to leave them.
I certainly don't expect everyone who reads my journal entry to agree with everything I've said on this subject, but I truly hope that the people it applies to will at least take some of it to heart and consider making changes on how they deal with people and situations.

I agree with you. Well written, dear. It's an annoying and useless feature. I have a near and dear friend who keeps getting negative honor...from idiots here who have NOTHING better to do than give him negative honor...multiple times a day. It's so lame.
So VERY lame.

Excellent points and observations that mirror my own. And expressed so intelligently and succinctly. It is a joy to find someone of your caliber here...not to mention someone of your standing at this site.
This site used to be relevant. That was of course before the measures increasingly taken by this site's creator to apparently sabotage his own creation and turn it into a battleground where only popularity counts and immaturity is rewarded, thus now reigning supreme... and all the result if his own deliberate actions.
